About the Speaker:
Becca Stevens is an Episcopal priest, social entrepreneur, speaker and author of five books for whom ministry and writing are a practical endeavor. As chaplain of St. Augustine's at Vanderbilt University; and founder and executive director of Magdalene, a residential community for women who have survived lives of violence, prostitution and addiction, and its non-profit business, Thistle Farms, Becca maintains a commitment to the truth that love is the most powerful force for change in the world.          

To date, Becca has raised over $10 million and gained nationwide press coverage for the organizations she supports. She has won awards from the Frist Foundation and the Academy of Women in Achievement. Named "Alumnus of the Year" by the School of Theology at the University of the South, "Nashvillian of the Year" by the Nashville Scene, Becca was selected as "Tennessean of the Year" by The Tennessean. Her latest book published by Abdingdon Press is Funeral For a Stranger. In addition to having written numerous articles, Becca is a widely traveled speaker and has both a blog and podcasts available online at www.beccastevens.org. Becca lives in Nashville with her husband, Grammy-winning songwriter Marcus Hummon, and their three sons, Levi, Caney and Moses.
