Why Women Feel Misunderstood in Today's Marketplace

Jamie Dunham will walk us through the latest trends in women and purchasing,  how women influence today's marketplace, and why women feel misunderstood by many businesses. Women control some 85% of all household spending today and are key buyers of automobiles, financial products, healthcare, homes and more.  And for the first time, we have five different generations of women working in the marketplace.  What does this mean for us, for our businesses and for our customers?

About Jamie Dunham

Jamie Dunham uses her no-nonsense Texas upbringing and more than 30 years of marketing experience to counsel companies on the intricacies of brand development.  She leads brand planning for clients with a focus on building cultural relevancy for their brands. A postmodernist on the subject of branding, Dunham works to ensure consistent branding across all consumer touchpoints to tell the brand story – and engage consumers.

Dunham is an active blogger and expert on marketing to women.  Her blog www.TheLipstickEconomy.com offers perspectives on marketing to the 108 million adult women in the U.S. who make 85% of all consumer purchases.

Dunham has provided counsel to a wide variety of consumer sectors – the arts, faith-based community, grocery, healthcare, hospitality, restaurants, travel and packaged goods.  She has helped them find consumer insights and craft their own unique brand identity, brand strategy, positioning, marketing communications and relevant touchpoints.

Prior to her current role, Dunham was Chief Planning Officer at BOHAN Marketing|Advertising where she created highly successful planning programs for the agency and supervised brand strategy for major clients.  She also previously served as Management Partner at The Buntin Group, managing key agency business.

Dunham was recently honored with the 2014 Silver Medalist Award, the highest award given by the Nashville chapter of the American Advertising Federation for contributions to advertising and the community.

Volunteer work for a variety of civic and community organizations broadens her view of the marketing world and society as a whole.  Among them are the Belmont University board of trustees, the Leadership Nashville alumni board, Nashville Rotary, NAMA - Nashville American Marketing Association, Christian Women’s Job Corps board, All About Women, Go Red for Women and the Sierra Leone Education Fund.  She is a past nominee for the Mary Katherine Stroebel Volunteer award and currently serves as the first female Deacon Chair for Woodmont Baptist Church.

Oh, by the way, she is also a proud mother of two, a wife, a Sunday School teacher, slave to two small red dachshunds and Southern foodie.
