RutherfordCABLE presents this special event sponsored by State Farm, “Maximizing Your Potential with Strengths-Based Leadership”.  The Strengths Finder portion of this session will be centered around a personalized Strengths Insight Report and an Action-Planning Guide. While the Strength Based Leadership portion will destroy the myths of the well-rounded leader and explains why people follow leaders.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Dr. Jill Austin:

Jill Austin is professor of management and Department Chair of the Management and Marketing Department in the Jones College of Business at MTSU. She received her Doctorate in Business Administration from Mississippi State University in 1986. Austin was director of the university committee that developed the Experiential Learning Scholars Program (EXL).  From June 2006 – July 2012, she served as Director of the EXL Program, an initiative of the university that is designed to engage students in the learning process through hands-on activities. She has published scholarly articles on business ethics, teaching issues, and leadership issues.  She worked with a group of faculty in spring 2014 to integrate StrengthFinders into the content of the principles of management course at MTSU.  Austin is a member of Rutherford CABLE and serves as a mentor in the Rutherford CABLE Mentoring Program.

Dr. Deana Raffo:

Deana Raffo serves as Associate Professor of Management in the Department of Management & Marketing at MTSU.  She has enjoyed a more than 20-year-long career at MTSU with rich professional experiences involving student services, student development, and leadership education.

Deana is the advisor for the Leadership Studies minor which was the recipient of Association of Leadership Educator’s Outstanding Program Award in 2009.  She has numerous presentations, publications, elected offices, and committee involvements.  Her research interests focus on leadership and personal development, leadership education, and the introverted qualities in leadership. Her publications have appeared in journals such as the Journal of Managerial Issues, the Journal of Leadership Education, and Gender in Management and most recently a chapter entitled “Reflection and Authentic Leadership” in the book, Leading with Spirit, Presence, and Authenticity

Deana and her husband, Greg, met at MTSU and have been married nearly 15 years.  They have two sons, Gabriel, almost 8, and Lucas who is 12.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and yoga.

Cost: $20 for members | $25 for nonmembers. Cost includes one of the following books of your choice: StrengthsFinders 2.0 or Strength Based Leadership.

Book Pick Up: All attendees should pick-up their book ahead of time. All registered and paid attendees can pick up their book at the March 10th Breakfast meeting, March 18th Networking event or contact Amber Nauman (AMNauman@firsttennessee.com) at First Tennessee. All attendees should take the assessment and bring their results to the session.

Special Note: Parking is off of DeJarnett Lane, this is also known as Entrance B). Upon entry to the State Farm building, a security guard will check you in via the event attendance roster. Then, you will be given a visitor badge to proceed to the event.
