November Breakfast Meeting

What Would an Artist Do?

Focusing On What Matters To You Without Dropping Any Balls

A Presentation by

Stephanie Pruitt

We’re talking resource management, delegation, and guilt-free decision making. …but not in the conventional, self-help sort of way. Let’s look at these practical skills that can power our personal and professional lives through the lens of some of the most impractical, and often eccentric people we know: Artists. What can the artist’s way show you about successfully minding the business of being YOU? Poet and ARTrepreneur, Stephanie Pruitt will show you, and you won’t even have to get paint in your hair or write an epic poem in iambic pentameter.

About Stephanie Pruitt

Stephanie Pruitt is a poet and the founder of No Starving Artist Academy. The MTSU alum has taught arts education and creative writing at Vanderbilt University, Sewanee Young Writers’ Conference, and as a visiting artist in over one hundred K-¬12 and community settings. Her online artist business courses serve thousands of creatives across the country.

In addition to being published in numerous literary journals and anthologies, the native Nashvillian presents poetry in unconventional formats as a way to explore the role of creativity in our everyday lives. As an ARTrepreneur, Stephanie works with businesses and community spaces to “publish” physical poems. This has come in the form of poetry vending machines, 3D visual poems and sculptures, commissioned poems etched in walkways, and transforming a 10,000 square foot warehouse into a multi-sensory poem guests could walk through, touch, taste, and smell.

Stephanie serves as a Commissioner for Metro Arts and on the board of directors for the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville. The TEDx speaker is a nationally recognized workshop leader committed to banishing starving artist syndrome and helping all of us to live, work, and learn with greater creativity and meaningfulness.
