Dr. Alicja Lanfear
If you just groaned, this presentation is for you! Enjoy an engaging discussion that goes beyond memorizing facts and challenges you to adopt the powerful advantage of a scientific mindset. Dr. Alicja Lanfear, 2017 Rutherford ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Recipient will share her work; convincing you that science is not a four-letter word.
Dr. Alicja Lanfear is a lecturer in the Department of Biology at Middle Tennessee State University. She wears two hats in her professional life; she is an academic, trained in forensic anthropology, and an educator.
She was initially drawn to her field of research because of the varying levels of questions one can study. After realizing that ultimately, the main consumer of her work was the public – members of juries – she became a passionate advocate and champion of STEM education and scientific literacy.
Dr. Lanfear was nominated by the Murfreesboro Branch of AAUW and is the 2017 Rutherford ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Recipient.
