Dr. Lydia Cox

Dr. Lydia Cox is a private consultant, trainer, and owner of The Lydia Cox Company.  Various organizations throughout Middle Tennessee have grown under her leadership, and clients throughout the country have benefited from her multifaceted experience, advanced, specialized academic training and natural talent to positively motivate others. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in educational leadership and an M.A. from the University of Tennessee in school administration and supervision.
     Her career includes eighteen years in public education (twelve in the classroom and six as a high school assistant principal), nonprofit leadership, and business owner.  Cox is the former President/CEO of the American Heart Association, Middle Tennessee Region and Senior Citizens, Inc (Fifty Forward).  At United Way of Middle Tennessee, she served as director of Community Initiatives Division and interim president. While she was interim president, United Way of Middle Tennessee raised a record campaign of 19.2 million dollars.  Under her leadership Success by Six was initiated as a community partnership for early childhood development.
     During the last eighteen years, she has worked with numerous clients in strategic planning, organizational assessment and development, team building, consensus decision making, and neutral facilitation.  Recent clients include: Arthritis Foundation, Center for Nonprofit Management, Community Education Partners, Community Resource Center, Metropolitan Historical Commission, Nashville Opera Association, Nashville Public Education Foundation, and United Way of Davidson County.
     A recipient of numerous honors, Cox is highly respected for her contributions to organizational and community leadership and educational advancement.  Cox demonstrates excellent leadership, problem solving, and communications skills and has strength in building partnerships with diverse groups.  Lydia’s love of life and people is contagious, and she has a passion for family, friends, travel and new learning experiences!
