When Smart People Fail
Lessons Learned from the Upside of Down

with
Joy Johnson-Carruthers

We like the beginning and end of success stories but often ignore the struggles and lessons learned in between. Each of us has a story to tell that can inspire others to embrace the bumps along the way. This presentation will remind us of our shared humanity and inspire us to risk being vulnerable so others may succeed.

About our Speaker
Joy Johnson-Carruthers, is a Workforce Trainer, Speaker and Diversity & Inclusion advocate with over twenty years of experience developing high performing teams across the United States and abroad. Joy was recently awarded Diversity and Inclusion Professional of the Year by Middle Tennessee Society for Human Resource Management. Joy is currently a Senior Manager of Development with HCA Healthcare Supply Chain and holds a Master of Cultural Studies from UCLA. Joy’s career began in the United States Army, and later as an officer with the St. Louis County Police Department. Her law enforcement career ended when a drunk driver rear-ended her patrol car. Joy went on to find her passion in training and education, working as an adjunct professor of Humanities and Cultural Studies and studying abroad in West Africa and South Korea. Joy uses her unique style, experiences and contagious energy to teach and inspire audiences across the globe.
